Does the fawning treatment of Sokolov in DH2 rub anyone else the wrong way? Posted: 08 Sep 2020 12:00 PM PDT Given that Sokolov is such a bastard in DH1, does the fawning treatment given to him in DH2 rub anyone else the wrong way? I was shocked when Emily referred to Sokolov as "old friend", and having Anton Sokolov be her teacher while at the Hounds Pit Pub felt like a major retcon; there was no indication of that taking place in DH1, and Admiral Havelock would not let a man as dangerous as Sokolov influence his puppet-empress-to-be. DH2's high chaos ending telling us that "he saw his machines used for war and oppression, watching the powerful crush those beneath them" like Sokolov wasn't fully aware how the tyrants and petty tyrants in DH1 used his machines. Whatever the merits of Sokolov's overall achievements, his behavior (enacting torturous human experimentation, sexually taking advantage of his students and staff, conducting profane rituals) is difficult to defend. Do you think that it is a case of the writers of DH2 having rose-tinted glasses for the cool science man, or a legitimate writing decision? I guess I'm really asking two questions. A) Is it justified in-universe for Emily and/or Corvo to look at Anton Sokolov in a positive light, given their personal knowledge of his past crimes? B) Is it justified out-of-universe to have the narrative of DH2 paint Anton Sokolov as such a sympathetic character, given the writers' knowledge of his past crimes? [link] [comments]

Why did I get a trophy for not alerting anyone when I did alert people? Posted: 08 Sep 2020 01:06 PM PDT I just got a trophy called "Faceless" for "not alerting anyone," even though I engaged in combat with with a number of enemies. I tried Googling "Dishonored Faceless trophy glitch," but apparently nobody else had this happen to them. Is there an explanation for this? [link] [comments]
Lowering Chaos in Knife of Dunwall Posted: 08 Sep 2020 12:56 PM PDT I played Dishonored years ago, and recently finished Dishonored 2. I completed the first mission of Death of the Outsider before realizing I should probably play The Knife of Dunwall and The Brigmore Witches to get the complete story. When playing The Knife of Dunwall, I thought that since Daud and Billie Lurk were both professional assassins, it had the same chaos system as Death of the Outsider. I played the entire first mission killing everybody, and only afterwards realized there was still chaos. I finished the rest of the DLC only killing 2 or 3 more people, but still got overall high chaos, forcing me to kill Billie. I was fine with this because I knew what the actual ending was supposed to be, until I read The Brigmore Witches steam page. It says that your powers, weapons, and chaos carries over from The Knife of Dunwall save files. Uh oh. Would I be able to replay the first mission to lower my chaos for the entire DLC so I can get low chaos in The Brigmore Witches? Or, would I need to replay the entire DLC for that to happen. Dishonored 2 crashing my ps4 after downloading update 1.06 Posted: 08 Sep 2020 11:27 AM PDT I wanted to play dishonored 2 again since it's been a while and when I put my disk in it told me that there was an update at first I told it to wait cos a friend was going to watch me play and it said that it would take over an hour. When I opened the game it was very slow to load and laggy to the point I could barely watch the opening cutscene and then it crashed my system so I restarted it and put on the download. After waiting for it to download when I tried to start it but the game would just open to the first opening screen stay there for like 5 mins then crash the system. I've tried everything I can think of restarting the system, deleting and redownloading it and I even tried to rebuild the database in safe mode. I was wondering if I'm the only one and if anyone can help me. [link] [comments]
