It's in small moments like this where the video game as a narrative medium truly shines.

Tips on a Mostly Flesh and Steel + Ghost run

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 03:28 PM PST

Hi! I recently made a post on completing a Mostly Flesh and Steel + Ghost run. I got some questions about tips and tricks and what helped me do it.

    • First, let me explain what this run is.

Mostly Flesh and Steel is an achievement you get>! for completing a run without any supernatural powers or enhancements!<. Ghost is an achievement you get for completing a run without being seen or killing anyone. Key targets don't apply, but I did do all the non-lethal options for the true pacifist run.

    • Now that is out of the way, what are the biggest hurdles in this run.

Everyone will have different hurdles to overcome, as is usual with any challenge, but there are a couple similarities. The biggest overall problem is the combination of the 2 achievements. Not being seen while not being able to upgrade blink and or get night vision is really tough. Often you have to remember walking patterns and base positions on your hearing.
By far the biggest hurdle, and this is a far 'by far', is the endscreen on a mission. You will only be notified if you have completed the challenge per level after you have completed the entire level. Often times it happens where you have been spotted for a split second or some unconsious body fell of a roof.
When that happens, you have to replay the entire mission or go back to a save where you know you haven't been spotted yet. This never happened when I failed the level.

So in short, movement is limited. You have to know where your enemies are and what they can and can't see. Failing once but not knowing means you have to do the whole level again.

    • Tips and tricks

Now for the actual tips and tricks.

    Quicksaving and Quickloading

    This is clutch.
So many times you will miss an enemy, fall of a roof or do something stupid. Make sure your lost progress is minimal. Every time you clear a couple dudes, just hit that quicksave. This is also what makes this run bearable on PC and a true mindboggling challenge on Console.
On pc by default, f5 is quicksaving and f9 is quickloading.
You clear dudes, hit f5, continue, clear dudes, f5, get spotted, hit f9 and you'll be on your latest quicksave. This assures progress and should be done abundantly.

    Use Bone Charms

Bone charms is nog magic, but it does do wonders.
Get you some bone charms that upgrade your sneaking capabilities. Faster walking with weapons out, faster choking, faster carrying bodies, faster mana recharge (for blink lvl. 1), etc. etc. In the end I found about 8 or 9 that were actually usefull and did something. Those mentioned earlier are really game changers and I hope you find them early.

    Sleep Darts

No you can't kill anyone, but no one said anything about sleeping.
A couple times in the game you will find 2/3/4 people standing around and being to far from you and to close to each other to go for that melee choke. This is where a sleeping dart is perfect. You can use them fairly early in the game and buy them from piero for 30 gold or something, it's a steal. Just be sure you don't let them fall to their death. That would be a shame.

    Hide bodies/Never get caught

This is more like two tips in one.
You should hide your bodies in a room and never try to get 3 white lightning (detection-indicatiors). Once a body is found or you are almost spotted, they will change their behaviour. They will find you easier, change their walking patterns and be really on edge. This is bad vibes all around, and you should avoid it at all costs. When it happens, either restart that section, or just wait it out. It should be like 1 minute or something.

Have fun in doing a challenge

It's going to be challenging. I didn't have to spell that out for you.
But that is why we are here, why you are reading this and why you are contemplating doing one yourself! It is fun, being challenged. The frustrating parts are the most memorable and the feeling of completing the tough sections is amazing.

Those are all the tips I have for this particular challenge run. I found it a lot of fun to do the challenge and to make this type of post. If you have any questions or tips that I missed, feel free to pm me or place a comment and such, you know the deal.

If you're gonna do this run, good luck!

should I buy Dishonored if I don't like 1st POV?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 03:24 PM PST

I've been looking around for some new games and came across the Dishonored series. It seems intriguing and I've come across really solid reviews advocating for it. But I've never actually been a fan of 1st person games and always opt for 3rd person. I was wondering if I should try it out regardless so I came here for opinions.

Dishonored 2 "Clockwork Soldier" SFM Model

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 02:25 PM PST

Hi everyone! I've been looking for a while for a Source Filmmaker port of the clockwork soldiers from dishonored 2 (preferably with a rig) and haven't had any luck. Does anyone have any ideas on where I could find one? Looks like there was one a while ago by a DeviantArt user "Minitiv" but they have since deleted their account.

is there a difference between low chaos and a merciful ending?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 11:13 AM PST

Do get a different ending with low chaos vs being completely merciful? This is my first time playing dishonored 2 and in the second mission, one of the enemies killed his own ally so I didn't get my merciful.

    The Mandalorian reference to Dishonored?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 10:03 PM PST

Minor spoilers for Mando In the most recent episode, we are introduced to a character named Ahsoka Tano on the planet of Corvus. Not only does these names sound similar to Corvo Attano, but the actor playing this character is Rosario Dawson, the voice actor of Billie Lurk in Death of the Outsider. Maybe it's a coincidence or a stretch, but I was curious if anyone else noticed the similarity or connection to her! I am not super familiar with Star Wars outside of the show, so I am not sure how old the character name or planet name are in the canon.

Great show too if you haven't checked it out

D2 - “Save Game” greyed out?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 08:30 AM PST

Playing D2 (again!) and in the middle of Mission 2, I'm finding "save game" greyed out, preventing me from saving.

I'm on the XBox Series X

I searched the sub and couldn't find this particular issue.

There are guards that may be actively searching for me, as I rescued the dude at the gate by stopping time, choking him out, and noping out of there with him sling over my shoulder. I don't remember that affecting the ability to save.

    Help?
