Some things I'd like to see in a (potential) Dishonored 3.

I heard (supposed) rumors about a potential Dishonored 3 possibly being in development a while back, and even if it does eventually become a reality, it's still probably quite a ways off. But out of all the video games I own, the Dishonored games are among the ones I often replay the most, especially the first and second ones. I've been comparing and contrasting both the first and second games a bit, and if there is a potential third game, some features that I'd like to see make a return are:

    FEATURES-WISE:

    • bone charm crafting (the stackable power effects made DH2 incredibly fun on subsequent playthroughs and also added a lot to the replay value for me)
    • powers that carry over between playthroughs/NG+. I felt this added significantly to the replayability of the sequel for me and I loved the fact that runes/charm abilities could carry over between playthoughs, and made it possible to do subsequent playthroughs with as many powers as you wanted. I opened up a lot of possibilities, and it made it incredibly fun to revisit the same missions with different power combinations. I still love the first game and replay it often, but DH2 absolutely spoiled me with the wide array of abilities and powers, so sometimes when I switch between games and replay the first DH after immediately coming off the second one, I have to get re-adjusted to the fact you have to be more careful about how you ration out your rune usage and get used to the fact it's not really possible to complete the game with 'all' the possible powers that can be acquired (I know you don't technically need every single ability to complete the game effectively, and I've done it plenty of times before, but still).

    PLOT-WISE:

    • A main villain that isn't Delilah. Again, I still love both the first and second games, but as much as I loved the additional emphasis on witchcraft/magic in DH2, I've never been super fond of Delilah, and at this point, I'm just bored of her. She always felt very flat and two-dimensional to me, even with the added backstory that DH2 gave her (which did very little for me), and I'd rather see a different antagonist or antagonist(s) with more complexity in the third game. I know in the past I've seen some people say that they felt the betrayal that takes place at the end of DH1 was predictable, but I actually felt the Loyalists turning on Corvo and discarding him as they got closer to their goals and obtaining the throne which ultimately leading to a final showdown on Kingsparrow was more fascinating to me as a whole than Delilah (side note: I think the presence of witches and the witch covens in the DH universe are cool, and I often enjoyed the lore and banter from the witches themselves throughout the games, it's just Delilah herself returning as a main antagonist that I'm not super keen on. She just always struck me as a very pompous but otherwise flat villain).

Those are among the biggest desires at the top of my head, but on another side note, I think it might also be cool to play as an entirely new character that isn't directly tied to royalty or the throne in some way in terms of playable protagonists, but I also really enjoyed what was established with Jessamine/Corvo/Emily, so I'm also not staunchly against playing as another character tied to Dunwall royalty or the Kaldwins either, so I can go either way on that aspect. But I do think having a protagonist that doesn't have immediate close ties to the throne would also open up new possibilities (but again, I'm not against playing as another royalty-related character either, especially since I had so much fun with the Kaldwin/Attano characters, so I'm flexible on that front. It's mostly the above previous things I listed that I'd really like to see in a potential future sequel).

I haven't played any of Dishonored games. I am intrested in the story and also speedrunning. Should I buy first or the second? Which has better story and wich is better for speedrunning?
