Who needs that one bonecharm to play a Spiderman game in Dishonored?

    Posted: 16 Feb 2022 09:27 PM PST

Just got game pass. Dishonoured 2 is there. I haven’t played the first one in like 10 years. Is this a good one to try and return to?

Deadliest Drip: Corvo Attano vs Adam Jensen, Reup with extra deets

Deadliest Drip: Corvo Attano vs Adam Jensen, Reup with extra deets

    TLDR: which stabber dresses better.

Reup because automod removed the last post and normal mods decided not to answer my message. I will also upload this in r/Deusex

From hunting down your gf's killers to hunting down your gf's alleged killers, our edgy protagonists need a look as sharp as their blades. We are gonna judge them based on multiple categories, across their 2 game appearances as well as concept art for said games. The categories are:

    Casual wear

As edgy as they are, our badasses cant look like badasses 24/7. From talking to your boss to attending of assassinated gf's assassination anniversary, sometimes you just have to pretend not to be the one of the most dangerous semi-human beings in a 5 km radius.

    Business wear

As they cross the invisible line and the social meter turns to hostile, our slick operator requires a killer look as well as the functionality to complete their shady objective.

    Evolution

Our broody protagonists went from having the rug pulled out from under them to being the ones who use said rug to straggle some poor henchmen. How has their style changed in between their two games?

Disclaimer: Im an art and video game nerd, not a fashion designer, take my opinion with a pinch of salt.

    Corvo Attano

    casual wear

    https://preview.redd.it/dv8y789yy5i81.png?width=538&format=png&auto=webp&s=bde4f321d6cbacdbde8059ce723eb726450270e5

Corvo shows his rank and status with his militaristic look in the first dishonored, being the most important bodyguard in the empire. Seeing how many mainstream clothes originate from military attire, this look is perfect for social functions. His pouch added the nice utilitarian and shady flair, no ordinary man dresses that sharp and has that many small, accessible pockets. I dont feel the need to say more about the trench coat. Socially acceptable and fashionable, ok for work environment but is still functional, i give this a good enough.

Mask-on is the new rolled sleeve

When Corvo fully embraces his stealthy side, he dons his infamous mask and straps a band of charm across his torso, he also got a sick tat that glows when he does supernatural stuff. When a dude with a military background, a skull for a face, his hand tattoo glowing, and wear bones across his chest runs at you in the dead of night, dont worry, you are nowhere near significant enough for him to kill. Bonus point for: intimidation tactic, unknown occult factor and weird-ass tech.

    2nd Game:

    the one true daddy

Corvo ditches the military vibe in the second game. He no longer dresses like someone who protects (or hunts down) the elites, but like one of the elites. We know that Royalty/Queen was one of the pillar of Emily's design, maybe they add it to Corvo too so they look like they belong together. A subtle flair in his undercoat adds nice details. Im not sure what to feel about the sleeveless outer jacket, maybe its a dad thing. The bold strong shapes is a plus in my book. He also covers up his tattoo with a dope hand band for +5 social stealth. The designers certainly took a leap with this design, sometimes its not the hit or miss that matters, but the swing, and i can see they put a lot of weight here. I feel this is not much of a "your Corvo evolved into a cooler Corvo" but more like "your Corvo had to raise a daughter who is also an empress and the source of his power is literally a forbidden god so he better clean his act up and mingle". Also beard

    Adam Jensen

    https://preview.redd.it/ulyfphg4z5i81.jpg?width=564&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d5ac5bc177af5a96cccd63093256c359ed69e4c

Everybody's favourite human-shaped Lamborghini, the man is so cool his shades are automatic. His casual style in Human revolution is sadly straight up problematic mostly because of his head-shoulder ratio.

    https://preview.redd.it/b43d3nyy26i81.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6df137a0d6b67b238f850ebf8df6acd0fcc926db

Ik they were going for a Renaissance theme for the first game but i just dont feel his floral texture. This casual look is a straight loss for me.

    Adam going commando

Bonus point for Square Enix for giving Adam a whole different business look. Adam takes the saying: "my body is a weapon" literally, and a cool one too. Ceramic blade arm and star fish hand are down right the most badass and original cyberpunk visual idea ive seen at that time. Bonus point for concealment. Praise to the designer for combining anatomical muscle with mechanical parts and making everything work together, also a possible nod to the trailer where Adam was in his dream and is bisected by the scientists.

    https://preview.redd.it/7q42y6vuz5i81.jpg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dc68ca7b918ceb7dce9dcb9f21994cac99efe7ac

Fun well-known fact, the 2nd game trench coat was designed by a real brand called ACRONYM, the poster child of tech wear. You think rolled-up sleeves are cool, these roll-up automatically, bonus points. The commando look is just a more detailed version of the one from HR, still tactical though*.* Fun Fact: Square wanted to make Adam more militaristic in HR (working for interpol taskforce and such) but the generic body armor look didnt work out, so they kept the tight body armor and added militery references, like the ejection strap from the airforce. Otherwise Adam stayed very much true to his original design in comparison to Corvo radical departure.

    https://preview.redd.it/ku3kztixz5i81.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f1b79d538d7e1a13a4c006d021eaa9f73a8c07d6

I know Adam has a certain extra flair to him but the hair and the beard though, i just dont know. Uuhh extra grooming points i guess. Also my head canon is Adam shave that goatee with his nano-blade and you cant convince me otherwise.

Im just glad they didnt keep the wrist

Fun fact: early in Adam's concept design phase, he has to have bare mechanical arms exposed at all time, which forces him to wear a sleeveless or short sleeve jacket/shirt, in combination with the shades earnt him the title "Douchebag Adam" among the devs. Another problem was initially Adams arms was skin coloured, during the meeting an exec commented that he look like a cyber-Pinocchio.

So what do you think: if look could kill, who would be the dealiest, folding-sword flipping Corvo Attano or Adam "i never asked for these sick shades" Jensen?

Game style idea: Incapacitate EVERYONE + ghost + clean hands

    Posted: 16 Feb 2022 07:23 AM PST

Does anyone try to incapacitate EVERY SINGLE PERSON in EVERY LEVEL? I've been doing this and it's really fun. I've found that the Lady Boyle level is especially exciting, but takes hours to finish. I first sneak inside the upper level, incapacitate every guard up there until I can roam freely. Then, I sneak down the servant's stairwell and incapacitate the music player guard. Lot's of people end up being incapacitated in very brief moments when a room only contains one single person and I blink them up the chandeliers and lay them down sleeping up on there. Or I hide in the kitchen downstairs and incapacitate one maid after the other before turning to the guards and guests inside and outside.

The brothel with the poor little Emily inside is even more challenging due to the guard's patterns. Especially if you want to try to incapacitate the 2 prostitutes in the big stair's ground level making out with each other.

Kingssparrow Lighthouse is also very fun playing like that.

Is there a youtube walkthrough who someone incapacitates EVERYONE?

Death of the Outsider is Annoying Me, Is it Me or the Game?

    Posted: 16 Feb 2022 11:17 PM PST

Going through my steam library I noticed I still had DOTO installed but never played it. I played Dishonoured 1 a lot and a bit of Dishonoured 2 but stopped due to the performance issues. I assumed DOTO would be suffering the same performance problems as 2 and avoided it but today I checked to see if it actually did perform as poorly as 2. To my surprise it actually ran really well so I gave it a bit of whirl and after a few hours am frustrated and put it down.

Firstly, I absolutely loathe the movement changes from 1, it feels sluggish and I despise the animation locking going into/out of stealth. Secondly, and the bigger problem IMO is that Billie Lurks power set is just unbelievably frustrating to play with. I have 0 clue how Foresight actually works. It says I can go up with space but doesn't actually let me. I can't use displace unless I can see where I am going but not actually cause it kinda curves around. Semblance is just dumb and annoying.

Thirdly the changes to Mana, which I initially thought were cool piss me off. I thought ditching potions and switching to a block based system is a good idea but it works poorly in practice. I can't tell you the amount of times I am just trapped somewhere waiting for like 2 bars of Mana to Foresight and Displace. Even then just Displacing around, you will have so many instances where you are stuck waiting for mana.

Fourthly, for some reason leaning does basically nothing so there is no point to it. Oh and enemies can see you even when you are leaning so there is actually no point to it.

The game is just frustrating because I appreciate the environments so much and looking through them is a tun of fun but just navigating the world is a very painstaking process as Billie Lurk compared to say Corvo where you where a Double Jump and a few Blinks away from any location.

    Clean hands/ghost question

    Posted: 16 Feb 2022 08:59 AM PST

Is it worth attempting those on my first playthrough? Or should I just kill guards if I feel like it? I'm not very good at sneaking and somehow even after two attemps I still didn't get either checkmarks on the first mission.

How does magic work for people who aren't marked? / is it explained in game?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2022 09:57 PM PST

I know that people don't have to have the Outsider's mark to use magic, that Delilah was a witch and studying magic even before she was marked and that magic exists separately to the Outsider, but how do people access this power from the Void?

    Dishonored 2 Observatory Performance Issues?

    Posted: 16 Feb 2022 05:13 PM PST

Hi, sorry if this has been asked before, but I was noticing some slowdown while I was playing D2 on PC, particularly at the entrance of the Observatory and the sandstorm areas, was going from 75~ fps to low 50s. For context, I have a relatively beefy system and I just set my graphics to auto, which defaulted to ultra. Was just wondering if performance issues are common on PC or if it might be my setup. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Curious, but is it possible to kill someone and not raise chaos

    Posted: 16 Feb 2022 11:06 AM PST

Mainly a question for dishonored 1 and 2, but is there a creative way to kill someone, but not raise chaos?
