    Dishonored 1 DLC Survivor | Round 1

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 08:59 AM PST

Welcome to the second set of Survivor votes to determine the community's favorite Dishonored missions! This time we'll be covering Dishonored 1's DLCs, The Knife of Dunwall and The Brigmore Witches. The Daud DLCs are easily my favorite Dishonored experience; the levels, the additional gadgets and alternative powers, and playing as Daud himself are all great. I especially liked actually having a voiced protagonist this time, and I think this struck the perfect balance between silent Corvo in Dishonored 1 and the sometimes unnecessary comments from Corvo and Emily in Dishonored 2. But enough of my gushing! If you've been following this process so far you'll know how it works, but if not I've outlined how it's done below. I can probably guess the first couple missions but after that it's anyone's call, I think 4 out of the 6 missions are absolute masterpieces in one way or another.

    VOTE HERE

    How it works:

Each round, you vote for your LEAST favorite Dishonored mission from the options available. After 48 hours I'll close voting, and eliminate the most voted mission, then we'll go again with the remaining 8 missions, voting for least favorite each time, until only 1 remains and is crowned the community's favorite mission in Dishonored 1.

    Missions still standing:

    • A Captain of Industry
    • Eminent Domain
    • The Surge
    • A Stay of Execution for Lizzy
    • The Dead Eels
    • Delilah's Masterwork

    Eliminated mission:

    • None

    Creepy Powers

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 11:37 AM PST

Is it me or years later and in 4K, "Shadow Walk" is far creepier of a power than I remember? Even Emily's hand acts creepy when you select it. Shudder

    Question about the Platinum playthrough.

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 09:31 AM PST

    Hi guys,

I'm going for the platinum, and so starting with the Mostly Flesh and Steel trophy, but I'm slightly confused about what I'm supposed to do afterwards. I'm collecting runes but not acquiring powers. After completing the game however, do I do power-related trophies via mission select? Would I still have my runes? Not too sure how it all works.

Or, would it be possible to purchase powers during a mission, do the trophy and then reload a previous save? Would that mess up the Mostly Flesh and Steel trophy?

I have to say though, this game is really fun. I am a big fan of the Bioshock series and so my friend recommended me to play this. Purchased the Arkane Collection for £16 and am enjoying this far more than Cyberpunk haha.

    Many thanks.

Asking for your thoughts on powers and it's effect on the experience

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 02:44 AM PST

I have mixed feelings about the narrative and it's relationship with gameplay in theese games, specially with powers. The main reason being that, although I always did and will consider them really fun to play with and an essential part of the gameplay, the time I got the most fun out of a playthrough, the most engaged with the world, it's lore and paid more attention to the enviromental storytelling, was the "no powers" run I did on Dishonored 2.

In that run I explored almost every house I could, I read every note I found and the run in which I felt more motivated to discover places and, for example, collect bone charms, or runes (even though runes just give you some money when you play no powers). While in my first playthrough (that I did with powers) I felt like that whole aspect of the game was just boring extra content that I didn't really wanted to do (probably, in part, because, with powers, this is much easier to do). I even was so lazy with the progression made through collecting runes that I played the game with a cheat to have all the powers from the start, because I just felt like having to search runes was just busy work that I had to do to get to the fun. I think I played the game in a high difficulty, so even though I cheated I didn't entirely break the game and I had a great time playing through the whole game anyways, but I didn't get as immersed as in the "no powers" run.

And, obviously, I think it that has a lot to do with the inability to use powers. Playing without them forces you to play more careful, patient and attentive way. I never really came to a conclusion of what to think about this, because I feel like one of the game's most important and interesting mechanics (the supernatural powers), clashes with the way I think it's world is meant to be approached.

Another thing to add, is that on Death of The Outsider (the last game from the franchise), the mission I liked the most wast the first one, in wich you have no powers, and I really enjoyed it because of that and probably also because it's designed with that in mind.

So, that's it. I just wanted to know your opinion on this, if you even played a "no powers" run, if you liked it, if you didn't, why, why not, let me know.

PD: Even though I have this dilemma, I truly think theese are all awesome games, they are among my favourite games ever and I'm glad reddit exists so people can express that and discuss about them. I joined recently to this subreddit and I really liked it. Thanks for reading.

If you're going for the Headhunter trophy in Dunwall City Trials, I found a good spot to complete the last room without using the glitch.

Is it possible to remove the bloom/film grain from d1?

Hot keys, or quick access wheel?

Which one is better for cool montage stuff? I've been using the wheel but it's been screwing me lately.
