I think I found a really funny and awesome new playstyle in Dishonored 1

    Posted: 17 Jan 2021 01:31 AM PST

Most of the discussion around this game is based around lethal vs nonlethal stealth or combat playthroughs. After 5+ playthroughs, I found a mix of combat and lethal stealth to be the most fun, but the story was super depressing and I decided I'd never do high chaos again. So, when I started a new game, I had an idea: what if I just... didn't do either? I ended up making my own challenge run/playstyle thing! I'm calling it Nonlethal Nonstealth- here are the rules:

    1. Must be played on Very Hard
    2. No walking or crouching (unless to fit through tight spaces or dodging, but not for stealth purposes! Go right back to sprinting the second you can!)
    3. No killing
    4. No knocking people out

It is a RUSH! You have to move as fast as possible, all the time. Mana changes drastically- it goes from being an annoying waste of time between blinks to being THE DEATH OF YOU. You will be DYING for elixer constantly! You'll find yourself doing insane hair brained schemes just to survive. For example, I did the Bridge level just now with this ruleset and had a completely insane moment- while trying to disable the lights, I had to go up the stairs with all the guards knowing exactly where I was. I double jumped, got to the platform on the left with a blink, blocked a sword swing, and blinked across back to the stairs only to be met with two more soldiers! With nowhere to go and empty mana, I jumped on the closer one, faltering him, walked onto the other guard faltering him as well, and landed on the other side of them!

Seriously, this is my new favorite way to play. Try it!

Looks a lot like something you could find in Dishonored. (probably because its Victorian)

    Granny Rags when?

    Posted: 17 Jan 2021 10:16 AM PST

Am I "meant to" see Granny Rags before dealing with the Overseer?

Or does it not matter? I don't know where Granny Rags is, and I'm just outside the door of the meeting room, so I am wondering if I should backstep... The goal is to do all side missions.

How does Dishonored 2 and Death of the Outsider run on PlayStation 5?

I want to see if these games can run at 60 FPS. That would warrant another playthrough for me.

I swear I'm going to give up gaming if I don't manage this challenge soon. I've read various guides, some saying you can get away with knocking out 2-4 people and still get enough score for 3 stars but I can't seem to get enough of a score up after getting all the eggs if I knock anyone out. If I leave people walking around I'm pretty much sure to be caught. Can someone please tell me where I'm going wrong?! Thank you

Dishonored 1 DLC Survivor | Results

    Posted: 17 Jan 2021 04:18 AM PST

Apologies for the delays in posting this! Been a bit caught up IRL. Anyway, we've completed our second survivor vote! A Captain of Industry was eliminated this round with 61.3% of the vote leaving our quite decisive victor...

    Eminent Domain!

Once again I'm rather unsurprised at this, it's probably my second favourite mission from the DLC after The Dead Eels. What makes it so good to me is how much it feels like a perfection of the classic Dishonored formula - move through the streets, navigate gangs and guards, reach the big bad guy's impressive manor, explore it to find him and take him out in any number of ways. Interestingly I feel like Eminent Domain is the only mission in the DLCs that really follows this formula, which is testament to the improvements Arkane made transitioning to Daud's story. This mission was in fact originally meant to be in Dishonored 1, and was the demo mission that was provided to some early reviewers - I remember reading about Corvo assassinating a corrupt barrister in an old GameInformer mag back in 2012. So I suppose it's no surprise it feels nostalgic and classic, and I can't really think of any way to significantly improve it.

A Captain of Industry was a great start to the Daud DLCs though - it's a totally unique location with a great atmosphere, unlike anything else from Dishonored 1. But ultimately it always felt a bit simple and linear compared to subsequent missions, and I personally would put it as a joint third with Delilah's Masterwork across the DLCs.

Thanks to everyone who took part! Let me know your thoughts on the results, and I will get round to posting the first Survivor round for Dishonored 2 in a few days.

    Eliminated missions:

    • The Surge, 66.7%
    • A Stay of Execution for Lizzy, 55.6%
    • Delilah's Masterwork, 56.5%
    • The Dead Eels, 46.7%
    • A Captain of Industry, 61.3%
