I replayed Dishonored during these months of lockdown. It hits diffent. Posted: 11 Jan 2021 10:42 AM PST During these last three months of lockdown, I've finally decided to replay this wonderful game, after it had been on my mind since March (at the start of lockdown). While the atmosphere had stricken me even the first time I set foot in Dunwall, many things I hadn't noticed were evident now. Details I hadn't thought about, or simply things acquiring a new meanings. Overall, the game feels darker than ever now, much more bleak and depressing than what I remembered. Locked doors and boarded up palaces. They used to look just like a way of signaling where you could or couldn't go. But I've walked through the arteries of my own city and I've seen the very same shutters, and suddenly the ones in Dunwall weren't just an element of level design: they were a sign of stagnant economy, of isolation, both preventive and forced closure. Semi-desert streets. Same reasons as above. I used to think "alright, they couldn't put too much characters on a level, alright", or simply it was a matter of political climate. Well now it's totally realistic. People are locked in their houses, houses in which you can't go in. And who are the only ones who walk the streets, besides the guards? The beggars and the unfortunate, just like new the only ones who are not at home are those who don't have a home, and they have been forgotten by everyone. Loudspeakers in the streets. During the game they let you know "how things are going", and how your actions are impacting the city; but they are also used to inform citizens of the measures in place against the plague and the restrictions applied to various things. It was kind of hard to listen to them after being bombarded by news on the TV, often told with a similar tone. The curfew. At first I found it odd that there was a curfew in a popular residential place such as Kaldwin's bridge... but now months and months of curefew, it doesn't seem strange anymore; on the contrary, my first thought was that, "hey they too have a curefew". The same, partially, can be said about the amount of police checkpoints in the streets: it doesn't surprise me anymore, after watching police cars asking people where are they going, and deciding if it's a good reason. It's not strange at all, but infuriating as always to see the poors struggling and the Nobles partying at the Boyle's Party, or to see everything closed but Rothwild Slaughterhouse still open and active. Our bleak reality. No trusts between people, always afraid of others having the plague and being suspicious of everyone. The costant "have you heard xxx got it?" And finally. The overall atmosphere of hopelessness, despair and misery which hit me way more than the first time, as it felt very real and accurate, a true depiction of how the people feel. The colour palette and the music did their part as well, but for the first time I felt as the events of the game were actually determining the atmosphere of the city, and not like they had been created together. Ending this reflection, my feeling is that this game managed to wonderfully capture the atmosphere of times of plague, in a way that I simply hadn't realised prior to partially experiencing them myself. It's scarily accurate. And it doesn't offer much hope, except staying home and waiting. Sadly this too, was a accurate part of the atmosphere. [link] [comments]

Meme run - I completed DH2, Ghost, with only the pistol and sword Posted: 11 Jan 2021 01:19 PM PST Proof: Final playthrough stats, Video Part 1, Video Part 2 The Rules:
I went into the challenge expecting it to be an exercise in frustration but instead it was really fun and barely harder than getting the Ghost achievement normally. Hardest level was by far The Royal Conservatory: every time a witch heard a gunshot they'd teleport either directly to me, if they were close enough, or in a random direction, meaning that they'd hear the next shot. I had to basically eliminate entire rooms at once to prevent this from happening or take potshots and run. Easiest level was probably the Dust District: I didn't encounter any real resistance there. Put "+com_showLoadingScreen 0" in your launch options to skip Dishonored 2's intro movies. No quotes Posted: 11 Jan 2021 10:35 AM PST Dishonored: -nostartupmovies Dishonored 2 (and prob Death of the Outsider): +com_showLoadingScreen 0 Figured I'd put this here since the last time this was mentioned prominently was 4 years ago, and the last post about intro movies only works for Dishonored [link] [comments]

Dishonored 1 DLC Survivor | Round 4 Posted: 11 Jan 2021 05:38 AM PST Delilah's Masterwork has been eliminated! I was expecting this one to go next honestly, the competition is fierce. I've always liked the Brigmore Manor as a level though, exploring the outside is great fun and it offers two interesting ways into the manor itself. Both the inside and outside are quite unique, no other Dishonored mission has us exploring a garden in broad daylight and the interior is the most rundown area across the entire series. It's also my favorite of the final missions, the build up to facing Delilah across the entire DLC is perhaps some of the best character building in the series. Down to only three missions now! VOTE HEREHow it works: Each round, you vote for your LEAST favorite mission from the options available. After 48 hours I'll close voting, and eliminate the most voted mission, then we'll go again with the remaining missions, voting for least favorite each time, until only 1 remains and is crowned the community's favorite mission in the DLC. Missions still standing:

Advise for Mostly Flesh and Steel? Posted: 10 Jan 2021 10:13 PM PST I'm planning on doing a no powers run in Dishonored 2 but it would be my first time (Never did it in original game) and I've come to rely on blink and dark vision so I need some advice on how to complete it. [link] [comments]
