If grafted from one's hand to another's, would the Mark work just as if the Outsider bestowed it, or would its power be limited like the hand Paolo kept?

    Dishonored 1 weepers

Do dishonored 1 weepers count towards the chaos? I know it might be a dumb question but I just didn't think killing them would be bad considering they have the plague

    About the Tyvian Red

    Posted: 27 Aug 2021 03:57 PM PDT

    About the Tyvian Red

While digging for informations about Tyvia I found some lore of the best wine in the Empire, mostly known from the High Overseer Campbell mission („Will you have wine? It's a Tyvian red".).

    https://preview.redd.it/ba6w653v9zj71.png?width=932&format=png&auto=webp&s=c90fa1052dd048ab0b102c89bc7bff7893dc0c92

The Tyvian Red is a luxurious wine with mild, elegant sweetness, created from grapes that have been frozen while still on the vine. The process is similiar to ice wine (Eiswein), produced in Germany, Canada and even Siberia (Tyvia jest heavily based on Russia).

Tyvia is an island of snow and cold, with vineyards inhabiting the rare plots of fertile land to the southern coasts. Only the very few vintners possess the knowledge how to keep the grapes alive against the harsh weather, and even after that the harvest can be easily ruined:

    • if a freeze does not come quickly enough, the grapes may rot or be be lost to wild animals and dropped fruit,
    • if the freeze is too severe, no juice can be extracted.

This makes the Tyvian Red a very expensive wine, mostly enjoyed by aristocrats and connoisseurs with enormous purses.

Thinking more about it, the production of this wine is also morally questionable and might be the source of conflict in a future. While Tyvians have to rely on imports of agricultural goods, the rare fertile soil is wasted on alcohol for riches. So far Morley was important food source for the rest of the Empire, but a prophecy of Blind Sisters in D2 and DOTO mentioned a famine caused by a blight, starting from the fields east of Potterstead in Gristol. With growing demand for imported food in the southern part of the Empire, prices in Tyvia might skyrocket.

I don't like the common misconception that Dishonored 2 is tailored more towards Emily than Corvo, and I want to clear it up

    Posted: 27 Aug 2021 04:18 AM PDT

A lot of people believe that Dishonored 2 fits Emily better as the playable character than Corvo, personally I don't agree.

The strongest argument for Emily being the playable character is "well, it fits her thematically because she hasn't taken her Empire that seriously and she's now seeing the result of her inattention because of the suffering and corruption in Karnaca."

However, Corvo states numerous times throughout the game that he is just as much in charge of Emily as Emily is in charge of the Isles. Therefore he personally believes that what he sees in Karnaca is just as much his fault as it is Emily's. He's not just her Royal Protector, he's her father and she also sees him as her top advisor.

Corvo returning home at the end of the game, bringing back all the stories of the suffering in Karnaca by seeing it first hand, and guiding Emily through the process of improving the state, is just as valid of a premise as Emily seeing it all herself and vowing to make a change.

Not to mention the very obvious thematic tie-ins of being the Royal Protector and protecting the royalty from a hostile force trying to seize it. There's family thematics as well, he's the dad, he's protecting the house and family (the house in this analogy is Dunwall/the Empire, because he is royalty.)

Another argument can be made about "well, why does he train Emily for so many years only to not actually get to play as her?" Because we have no obligation to play as her, and from a lore standpoint it's fair to say that Emily could get attacked by dissidents even after Corvo passes away so she needed to be trained and prepared for these circumstances. Even if Emily wasn't a playable character, it still makes sense that she's trained by Corvo.

The last counterargument I can think of is that Death of the Outsider has Emily being the playable character as the canon. I actually have two responses to this. First of all, Harvey Smith (the creative director of the series) has stated himself that he considers both characters to be canon and neither one is more "canon" than the other. I don't remember where he stated this (if it was on Twitter it was likely deleted) but that is his own creative opinion, both characters are valid and neither one is less "official" than the other.

My second response to the DotO situation is that some character needed to be the canon one to even have a sequel anyway. Fucking Alexi Mayhew could have been the canon choice for all it matters in DotO since they needed at least somebody to run through the events of the main Dishonored 2 plot in order for DotO to even be a playable game.

Lastly, I feel like if you think one character is more "canon" than the other, that it is actually a pretty big insult to how much work, effort, and love that Arkane has put into making BOTH characters make sense thematically and immersively. Even just a single reference to Emily as "he" or "Corvo" or a single reference to Corvo as "She" or "the Empress" would ruin the entire playthrough from an immersive standpoint. But everyone and everything (notes, books, etc.) refer to the playable character correctly. I want you to imagine the painstaking detail that they had to perform in order to provide the proper respect to both characters, both narratively and sub-narratively.

I just completed no kills and no spotted trophies and OMG the worst part for me was the clockwork soldiers for one reason they detect your blink so if youre inaccurate by a inch behind a wall it sucks lol

I genuinely have no clue what I am supposed to do. I will shoot him four times, but every time the first one will push him back so all the others miss. How are you supposed to beat this one?

    Overseers not attacking for blinking

    Posted: 27 Aug 2021 01:38 AM PDT

In the Boyle mansion, you can use blink in front of the guards - even the music box overseers - and they do nothing but respond with "where did they go?"

Wouldn't they just attack on sight? Also feel bad for the overseers for serving people who secretly practice what they hate

Anyone else find it weird how the only time agility actually increases jump height like it says is in Daud campaign?

    Posted: 27 Aug 2021 03:52 AM PDT

Agility is always an upgrade I get very early on because of how well it synergizes with blink. However, it's always described as increasing jump height, as opposed to adding a double jump whilst Daud's upgrade adds both.
