Finally 100% all the Dishonored games - amazing series

I think I started playing Dishonored just under a month ago and I've just managed to 100% each games achievements. I'm really confused as to why I never played this series before but I'm glad I have as it's now one of my favorites of all time. Gotta say the hardest achievements to get were the Dunwall City Trials ones and out of those probably 'By my hand alone' was the most annoying to get because of the rng involved.

Where do you think the series should go next? prequel, sequel? what would you like to see? I know Harvey Smith has said the Kaldwin character arc is over with so I'd assume we'll get a new cast of characters and maybe a hint of what has happened to our old characters lore wise. Sad to see the old characters go but I'd rather they tie it up in a few concise, well made games than drag it out and milk it to death.

I just realised the contrast between daud and corvo and feel like an idiot

    Posted: 12 Oct 2021 05:24 AM PDT

How have i never realised this

Corvo and daud: can both see through what others cant (dark vision and void gaze)

Corvo and daud: can travel to places unreachable to others (blink)

Corvo and daud: corvo can summon the rats from the streets themselves to fight people. (Showing how far he has fallen) while daud can summon his own trustes allies to fight for him (who some eventually betray him like with corvo).

Corvo and daud: both can stop or slow time but can move while the other does it (showing they are one in the same) its also suspected that when daud stops time the only one known to still be moving is corvo and vice versa. (Not including delilah and ect)

Corvo and daud: corvo can use push while daud uses pull (no explanation needed).

How I feel after getting Clean Hands in DH1.......

This scene immediately came to mind after a 14 hour Clean Hands Playthrough playing the game for the first time. It sums up my feeling on any subsequent playthroughs of DH1....

(Apologies for the crude editing together lol)

    The outsiders mark

    Posted: 12 Oct 2021 01:31 PM PDT

In dishonored 1 the outsiders mark glows a goldish yellow when used but in dishonored 2 glows an ocean blue. Why did they do this?

Death of the Outsider and non-lethal options

    Posted: 12 Oct 2021 07:23 AM PDT

I just finished two back-to-back playthroughs of DOTO to earn all the achievements in my quest to conquer all of them for each Arkane game (except Deathloop because I'm poor) and it was a grand old time. While it was way more of a mixed bag to me than any other Dishonored game was, with everything from the plot to the visuals to the mission design having a weak link somewhere, it was still a satisfying little slice of additional Dishonored gameplay with its own unique mechanics and flavour, and Billie remains my favourite protagonist in the series.

BUT there is one thing that bothered me: the removal of the chaos system is a divisive topic, and I am not sure where I stand on it. On one hand, not having to worry about how many kills will tip me over the line from low chaos to high chaos is a very liberating feeling. But on the other hand, it means replayability takes a major hit thanks to the lack of story consequences for your actions (not mentioning the lack of player chosen upgrades in DOTO). Sure, taking certain actions in Follow the Ink does indeed change stuff in the subsequent mission, but it's not anything major either story-wise or gameplay-wise.

But where this really stung for me was that the game also introduced god's gift to non-lethal players, the all-mighty Hyperbaric Grenade. I fucking love these things, with their low sound profile, absurdly satisfying and stupidly exaggerated ragdoll effects and lovely FWUMP sound cementing them as one of my favourite gadgets in the franchise.

Then there's Electrical Burst bolts, which are in my opinion a far more satisfying version of Sleep Darts thanks to their visceral effect; enemies may not be dying to them but the electric shock sound effects, convulsing ragdolls and screaming all give low chaos players a little taste of the brutality high chaos brings.

Hook Mines are the franchise's best version of mines yet in my opinion: suitable for lethal and non-lethal play and with an effect far more satisfying to behold than both springrazors and stun mines, and the ability to throw them is a welcome change that should've been in the series long ago.

And who could forget Hagpearls, a silly gimmick that gives you a risky and unwieldy but extremely fun and reusable way to both distract and knock out unhelmeted opponents.

These are all great additions to a non-lethal player's roster, with each filling a helpful niche: Hyperbaric Grenades are moderately loud area of effect tools that give you a way to take out large groups of enemies in combat non-lethally, Electrical Bursts are long-ranged bolts that are louder than sleep darts but more immediate and dangerous, and Hagpearls are reusable utility tools that can be effective knockout weapons at close range. Hook Mines aren't much different from Stun Mines or Springrazors aside from their ability to be thrown, but they're still a cool addition.

But what's the point of having all of these awesome additions if there isn't a point of going non-lethal at all? The only real reason someone would hold back on just straight up assassinating most enemies is to use Semblance on them, fulfill some contract terms and maybe to leave some characters alive to see what happens to them in future missions, but other than that, there really is no point. I mostly only used these tools on civilians or guards because I felt bad for them, but using them on anyone else felt like a waste when I could just use my blade, wristbow or grenades instead.

This also isn't helped by the game's very short length. The first mission is small and you lack your powers and any upgrades, and you only unlock the Twin-Bladed Knife near the end of the third mission, so no matter what, it feels like you don't get to use any of the tools you unlock for nearly as long as you want to. Contracts only fulfill their payout at the end of missions as well, and there's a pretty measly amount of coin to actually be found exploring the levels themselves, so purchasing these items/unlocking upgrades for them can often not be done during a mission as you don't have enough coin to buy anything, giving you even less time to experiment with them.

If there was a way to somehow backport the new gadgets or even the Twin-Bladed Knife and it's absolutely brutal kill animations to D2, I would be over the moon, because they're all amazing additions that would truly widen the sandbox of a game that actually encourages you to use them: it's just a shame that DOTO, thanks to the removal of Chaos and it's tiny mission pool, isn't that game.

Games with similar time stop mechanics?

    Posted: 12 Oct 2021 07:58 AM PDT

I really love the bend time power, specially being able to mess with people by throwing them bottles in stopped time, but its kind of a bummer that it only lasts for 16 seconds at most. Is there any game with a similar time stop mechanic? Or at least a mod or any way to extend the time of time bend past 16 seconds?

Games that I recommend if you got bored of dishonored

    Posted: 11 Oct 2021 08:47 PM PDT

As if anybody is gonna get bored am i right?

so for stealth games I recommend the splinter cell franchise you can play the originals but if you want something a bit more action packed I recommend the last 2 of it Splinter Cell Conviction and Blacklist

I would also recommend the Metal Gear Series the 1 2 and 3 can be played via an emulator? I believe but the 4 is only on PS3 I think RPCS3 would be able to play it

of course there is also the metal gear solid V and I think it is pretty fun

Also recommend thief this was a classic for some for me not really also add assasin's creeed the latest entries Origins Odysey and Valhalla is more action but the previous entries was pretyt stealth

I also also would recommend the batman arkham series this is more action and stealth but cmon its batman (if you are on ps4 I would also reccomend Spiderman PS4 and Miles Morales)

now you want to leave the stealth but want something a bit more into open world category in that regards I recommend Just cause it is amazing the latest 4 is a bit underwhelming for some but I recommend playing 3 and 4 because these are the more fun

how about first person shooter games?
Call of Duty and Battlefield is the go-to for first person games

But I have to recommend Escape From Tarkov as it is realistic and let's all be honest dishonored loves hard games so Escape From Tarkov and Arma 3 is pretty good

So how about you want to kill let's say a ton of Zombies well I got just the recommendation for you

if you want a bit of third person coop I recommend World War Z they recently released their expansion Aftermath which includes three or two new levels

if you want a open world I recommend Days Gone totally underatted game It deserves more love

if you want some first person then even though WWZ has a new first person mode then I also have just the thing for you

Left For Dead is an amazing duology but it is pretty old so lets say you want something good looking

then look no further than the released today? I believe it was today Back 4 Blood which is a spiritual sucessor to Left For Dead with much better graphics and a ton of new stuff

I want a game that makes me badass! Seriously? I got just the thing

for PS4 players (God of war is a good one)

the also mentioned earlier Batman Arkhan and Spiderman and Miles Morales is also pretty badass

I want something that kind of contains the same energy from dishonored

Hitman 2016 hitman 2 (2018) hitman 3(2021) is pretty good

that is pretty much all of them

    Black screen bug

    Posted: 11 Oct 2021 07:23 PM PDT

I start the game and there's the opening words, some lady talking and you're just looking at the sky. Then in the next cutscene I'm stuck with a completely black screen. Even after the cutscene is over, everything is just black. All I can see is the mission waypoint. I downloaded the game on ps4 if that matters

Not exactly my biggest body count but for using time stop and grenade to kill 4 guys and then watching the remaining suffer by my sword it is pretty big

Is dishonored 2 still broken on pc??

    Posted: 11 Oct 2021 09:19 PM PDT

Everytime I play the game at 4k the graphics bug out. Also the framerate is pretty inconsistent at higher settings? I looked it up and I saw that in 2016 it was poorly optimized, I was wondering if there were any patches that fixed the issues.
