I don’t know what took me so long, but I finally pulled the trigger!

Just finished Dishonored 2 (Clean Hands + Shadow) at Very Hard difficulty, it got frustrating at times but still worth it. (Don't mind the 1 death lol)

AI Improvements for next Dishonored Title

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 08:18 AM PDT

The Dishonored games are fan-fucking-tastic, every one, as i'm sure you all agree, but playing through Dishonored 2 as stealthily as possible the last few days has given me a few gripes with the way the people, be they guards, overseers, howlers, civilians, react to certain player actions.

First and foremost in my mind is Shadow Walk, which is an awesome power. By my understanding, when you are in your shadow form you look like a normal shadow moving on its own. Maybe the shadow of Emily/Corvo maybe not, it doesn't really matter, the point is that most people, save overseers, would be pretty put off if they detected that. Their first instinct would probably not be "attack with sword", since it's a fucking shadow on the ground. Some people, by my reckoning, would want to immediately put it out of their mind or tell themselves that they were just seeing things. Other more curious people might follow it without attacking, just to see what it would do. Overseers of course smell magic everywhere, even where there ain't no magic. They would definitely be the ones to attack your shadow on sight. Perhaps some guards would call other guards over to verify that what they were seeing was indeed a shadow moving on its own, thus brining more attention to you. It would also be interesting if hounds could still smell you when you were in shadow form.

Next is footstep detection. I can't tell you how many times i've snuck into a hostile building, sacked one of the guards/enemies, and then had people a floor above or below me be alerted to my footsteps when their buddy was LITERALLY JUST WALKING THERE. There should be places where hearing someone walking is considered normal to enemies and thus not a reason to be alarmed. Running on the other hand, possibly a better reason for alarm. But i would really like it if enemies would stop getting mad that they heard me walking in a place where hearing someone's footsteps is normal and expected.

I ran into that AI quirk a lot in The Dust District mission when i brought Paolo's body to the overseers. They weren't hostile to me (except when i looked at them executing two people for too long), but they did have those "what was that?", "did you hear something?", "hmmmm" reactions to my footsteps anyway, which exemplifies the flaw in the system.

Another thing. I personally think it would be neat if, when you pickpocketed money or a pistol off of someone and they didn't see you, they would ask and/or blame someone close by. I think it would be jolly good fun to see a scuffle or argument between two guards break out because one thought the other took his coin purse. It could also be reactive to your chaos level, arguments tending to become more violent in high chaos.

    1st dishonored playthrough

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 10:05 AM PDT

I recently started playing dishonored 2 ( my 1st dishonored game) and didn't know about the chaos mechanism, I'm currently at the start of Mission 6 with high chaos.

I want to know if I can still reduce my chaos level to low from this part of the game, or just continue on high chaos.

Question from a Newcomer to Dishonered: How many different kinds of runs are there? I'm new to the game and would like to get my money's worth out of the game. I currently only own the first game but plan to buy the dlc and the other games later on. Thanks in advance!

Any Dishonored-like VR games out there?

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 02:43 PM PDT

I think that using the powers would be super interesting in VR, having to do the left arm movements properly and hold bodies over your shoulder seems very fun. I know teleporting is common in a lot of games, but blink is an actual proper mechanic and different from locomotion teleporting.

So are there any games like this?

Skyrim VR has some elements that could be similar to Dishonored - crouching to sneak, leaning, there are mods specifically for Dishonored magic, but Skyrim's engine is a bit dated. Saints and Sinners has good stealth head-stabbing mechanics, a Dishonored VR game could have good assassinations.

    D1 no magic run

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 10:11 AM PDT

Is 100% zero magic run possible in Dishonored 1? I've managed to get through all missions completely magic free, up until I reached Dunwall Tower. Is there a way to climb the water lock without the use of either Agility or Blink? I'm currently stuck and I wouldn't want to screw up my run, is it possible to do it?

The optimisation for dishonored 2 is still terrible

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 12:20 PM PDT

I am currently playing this on a i7 7700hq gtx 1060m and 32gb ram and getting fps drops to around 45-35 even on medium settings. I really wish they optimised the game better because right now it's unplayable for me. The stuttering is also very noticeable.

    My weird relationship with 2

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 03:04 AM PDT

At first I hated it. Like the new art style the missions (especially Jindosh and the asylum) the new powers and so on. But now I love it ? Finished it once already as high chaos emily and planning to finish it 3 times more to get all the endings and I don't understand why. I really didn't like this game but now I might enjoy it more than the first. Is it just me or did this happen to you as well?
