Did anyone really try out the Dunwall City Trials DLC? If you havent bought it, I really recommend it. Its a ton of fun!

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 01:25 PM PDT

I see people talk about the DLC but they never mention the City Trials, and honestly, they are fun challenges! My favourite is Back Alley Brawl, because if you like the combat, then you might wanna check it out. Also the rest is really fun too, there is a stealth challenge similar to lady boyle's mission, except literally anyone could be the target, and you can only kill the target.

There should have been a buildup to the coup in Dishonored 2.

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 09:51 PM PDT

Seriously, they just dump exposition on you and get rolling, it's so jarring. "welcome to the game oh btw Emily's running things and everybody hates her."

Imagine if it went like this:

The tutorial has two halves, the stealth and the combat.

The stealth tutorial begins in Dunwall Tower. It involves Emily sneaking around her bodyguards so she can get out to the city and do whatever she does at night.

The coup is foreshadowed here. The guards talk in hushed voices about how Emily's rule is unsustainable, and that "someone ought to do something", and that she's a bad leader.

The second half is the combat tutorial. Emily goes out to meet with the leader of a special interest group who is disgruntled, telling Ramsay that she's going to meet with him "so he'll finally shut up". But when you get to his house, you find the Crown Killer standing over his mutilated body. There's a swordfight, but Emily loses due to lack of experience. The Crown Killer stands over her, poised to strike, but then stops. She laughs and says that Emily's day will come, and then she disappears into the night.

The Dunwall City Watch bursts into the room to find you standing over the victim's body. They dare not say anything, but the conclusion they've drawn is clear: The empress is personally killing her opposition.

Then we go into the opening of the game proper, with Emily's lousy ruling style, the crown killer murders, and the palace staff's dissatisfaction shown, rather than told.

    Weekly Dishonored TTRPG Thread

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 03:03 PM PDT

(life got busy, and these posts were a bit dead but we're bringing them back!)

This is a weekly discussion thread for the published and official Dishonored 2d20 RPG. It can be purchased directly from the publisher, or better yet, through your local game store!

This post is for people to ask questions on the system, post about their games, get advice on running the system, etc.

    Frequently Asked Questions:

    • Does this game run like a traditional Dungeons & Dragons or Pathfinder roleplaying game?
      • Nope! The closest approximation would be to the World of Darkness Systems (Vampire: The Masquerade, Mage: The Awakening). It only utilizes 2 d20 dice and does not contain traditionally expected stats like Strength, Charisma, etc.
    • Is this a Campaign Book or Adventure Path?
      • The book contains a very detailed breakdown of SETTING, providing you and your players all that you'd need to create your own adventure in the Dishonored Universe. Harvey Smith worked on the content himself so everything you see within the book is considered Canon. There is in depth looks into Dunwall/Gristol, as well as Karnaca, Morley, and Tyvia, giving readers a fantastic breakdown and history of the kind of populations as well as detailing factions and providing little plot hooks for you to run with?
    • So how do I set this up for my players?
      • Come up with a story! A timeline is included in the book to help you pick a time and place that you want to set your game. Do you want to do something during Corvo's time after escaping prison? Maybe you want to do something during the early days of Emily's reign. Like with any story you craft yourself, you get decide what you want to do. Have fun!
      • There aren't ready made maps for houses or parts of Dunwall, etc, but there are plenty of resources online that provide generic maps and set pieces for you to use either in person or through roll20. If you have any resources you'd like to share, please post and it can be included in the resource section!
    • Are there classes? Skills?
      • You bet! The game comes with several classes such as scholar, assassin, city watch, courier, etc. Each class has the things they're best at and the book details how that works.
    • Can we talk to the outsider and be granted abilities by the void?
      • Also yes! The book details how that all works as well.

Dishonored 2 Won't Launch From Steam?

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 12:59 PM PDT

When I click play on the game it says preparing to launch then disappears, a window briefly appears but is quick to return me to the desktop.

    I've tried:

    - Updating my drivers

    - Restarting my PC

    - Redownloading the game

    - Verifying the game files

Has anyone got any tips / had similar issues?

    Disappointed in D1

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 11:35 AM PDT

Let me preference this real quick, I played Dishonored 1 when it came out on the Xbox360 and loved it, although I was a little young and it was a little too hard for me.

I then played Dishonored 2 about a year after it came out and absolutely loved the game. I played the fu*k out of it; then I played D:DotO.

So obviously the next step was to replay D1 so I bought it on sale. I booted it up and was really really disappointed that they didn't add a quick save function like on D2 and D:DotO. Was anyone else disappointed by this?

Very unfortunate place to teleport to.

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 06:40 PM PDT

This is probably better suited for r/malehairadvice, but what should I say to the hairdresser if I want to get a cut like The Outsider's?

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 10:00 AM PDT

The Outsider's hairstyle has been really cool in both games but what would the name of that particular style be?

I've had long hair for a while and I've been wanting to go short and i think it'd be pretty cool to get a haircut similar to our favourite goth god.

Anyone got any images of real life people with a similar style? I was considering showing them a pic of Ian Curtis from Joy Division.

    Thank you very much.

    Corvo Attano and Oberyn Martell

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 09:36 PM PDT

So my current obsession is a song of ice and fire books and Oberyn Martell reminds me so much of Corvo (aside from the promiscuity). Corvo is not as well-defined because you can't say as much in a video game as in a literary masterwork, but the 'hot action dad in a strange land' vibe is the same with them. Also I think Pedro Pascal would be a great Corvo. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk

    Accidental suicide in Dishonored franchise

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 04:25 PM PDT

I want to know the funniest/wtf/craziest way you've accidentally died in any of the games.

Mine was in D2 and I was robbing one of the black markets and accidentally hit a case that had a grenade in it and blew myself up.

Is Double jump blinking a thing in DH2?

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 12:28 AM PDT

Alright, so what I mean by double jump blinking, I mean that in DH1, you could blink right when the agility jump starts, so then you would teleport and carry the upwards momentum. I haven't tested it on DH2 because I cant really run the game, but is it possible in that game? The agility jump is kinda wacky (Also yes, im talking about Corvo, not Emily, as she doesnt use the blink)

Issues with Possession's audio in D2

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 08:31 PM PDT

I don't know if anyone else is having the same problem. I've deleted and reinstalled the game multiple times to see if I could fix it and everytime the issue persists. Certain characters have unique lines they say when they're possessed, like the Crown Killer and Delilah's Witches, but they never say anything in my game, and I know they're supposed to be saying something because the subtitles actually show their lines whenever I possess them, there just isn't any dialogue audio, which is weird, because other audio stuff during possession works fine, like NPCs talking. Does anyone know the reason that might be happening? I play on PS4 with all patches up to date.
