    Just finished Dishonored. Holy shit

I could not believe I slept on this game for so long. I love Bioshock and I heard this game was just as great, but I didn't give it a shot until last week. And it is fucking amazing. I absolutely love the world building, complex characters, the fighting is awesome, Corvo is awesome. This game is seriously really good and can't wait to play Dishonored 2

I love running the Dishonored RPG

    Posted: 27 Apr 2021 02:02 AM PDT

What started as a one shot has been going on now for two sessions and might go on for two more. Everyone is having a great time.

The 2d20 system works really well with the Dishonored world. The momentum/void/chaos interplay is great once you get a hang of it.

Something I did that isn't mentioned in the source book, but I encourage, is situated the game in a particular version of the video game continuity. I watched my brother play the first couple missions to get a feeling for the game world, and then decided to set my adventure directly following his playthrough of the High Overseer Campbell mission (High Chaos, elixir plagued, Campbell poisoned, Curnow spared, using possession, devouring swarm, sword, and gun). The distillery district is in the middle of a four-way faction struggle for control following the chaos he created, and they don't even know Corvo is coming back the next day for the Pendletons. Everyone is having a blast.

Using a defined continuity with all the specifics that entails is both easier and more fun to run.

Dishonored 3 should take place in Pandyssia.

    Posted: 27 Apr 2021 04:11 PM PDT

Dishonored 3 should take place in Pandyssia.

I think it's about time we visited Pandyssia. Dishonored 2 has heavily been teasing a potential visit to Pandyssa or Tyvia in future games.

While I think that visiting Tyvia in the next Dishonored game would make the most sense, as it would be consistent with the idea of each game visiting a new Isle that the previous games set up, we know that Corvo and Emily's story has come to an end with Dishonored 2. Having the next Dishonored game take place in Tyvia (or even Morley for that matter) wouldn't make sense as it would either have to be a prequel set a long time ago, or a sequel so far in the future that Emily would have died of old age already. I can't see the show doing either of these, or at least, I think I have a better idea.

    Map of Tyvia

Pandyssia immediately comes to mind when I think of where the next Dishonored game could possibly take place. Not only has Dishonored 2 been teasing Pandyssia A LOT. I've listed some things below:

    • You can find several books written by Anton Sokolov in Dishonored 2, where he talks about an expedition he went to. This expedition was to Pandyssia, he also details all the different kinds of strange creatures they met on Pandyssia.
    • Billie Lurk AKA Megan also originates from an island near the coast of Pandyssia
    • The rat plague from Dishonored 2 also originates from Pandyssia. The Pandyssian Bull Rats were the original carriers of the rat plague, with them being exported to Gristol for the events of Dishonored 1.
    • I don't remember where, but it was implied that there used to be great civilizations on Pandyssia that were destroyed by the rat plague.
    • This one's more of a theory, but I think it's possible that the Outsider originates from Pandyssia too. The Pandyssians seem to be more in tune with the occult compared to the people of the Isles, and the Outsider said he died as a human four thousand years ago. I bet that four thousand years ago in the Dishonored universe, there were prosperous civilizations in Pandyssia. We also know that the Void continuously bleeds into Pandyssia, causing the uh, "weird" mutations in wildlife.

I think the existence of Pandyssia also just says a lot. You can't tell me the devs were randomly like "okay so we have the Isles, but let's add this giant humongous landmass next to the Isles and let's never touch it."

Map of the Known World in Dishonored. The Isles (Tyvia, Morley, Gristol, and Serkonos from top to bottom) are listed on the left, with Pandyssia on the right.

We also just don't know a lot about Pandyssia outside of what I've listed above, making it easy for Arkane to create a game that takes place there as they could do whatever they want with it. What we DO know about Pandyssia is that there are a lot of cool, powerful, and dangerous animals and that the natives are very into the occult and magic and stuff. This also allows for Arkane to have this game take place in ANY time period that they can think of.

You might ask, what could the story even be like on Pandyssia? We know that the Empire of the Isles has been trying to colonize Pandyssia for a while now, but all attempts have been unsuccessful so far. What I'd like to see is for the Empire to try and colonize Pandyssia again, now with their Tallboys and Clockwork Soldiers and whatever else they've got. They could write it so that it looks like this time, the Empire will truly be able to do it. But then the Outsider (or whoever the entity of the Void is at the time) notices what's going on and decides to give a native Pandyssian the mark of the Outsider, who uses that power to fight back against the colonizers.

Not only would this be really fun, but I also believe that this franchise needs to do something like this after the semi-monarchist messages that the previous games have contained. Dishonored is pretty pro-monarchist, though I don't blame them for it really. High fantasy, in general, is pretty pro-monarchist. Dishonored 2 also kinda tried to fix this by having Emily/Corvo state that they were extremely spoiled before, and didn't know how awful the normal people had it and that they will do it better, though the execution of this message in the game was pretty meh. The game idea I suggested is pretty anti-colonialist, which would go a long way to fix the previous games' pro-monarchist themes.

Okay so I just thought of something really funny

    Posted: 27 Apr 2021 02:58 PM PDT

So in dishonored 2 there's this heart line about a servant, here's the exact quote: "Somewhere a noble woman is beating a servant. He is but a boy. The beating will leave him blind. He was late with the tea." Now this is very sad and all, unless you use the heart a lot because if you're like me and you just randomly whip out the heart to give you some background about the place you are at, you'll realize that this quote plays in almost every mission, (I get it every damn time I use it) and this would imply the either there's is one specific servant boy who is terrible at his job and is constantly late with the tea, and everytime he is, he gets beaten up so bad he regains his eyesight just to lose it again, 𝘰𝘳 that there's an entire society of young servant boys, all of which are late with the tea at some point, and an another society of noble women, all very eager to beat up little kids (or maybe there's just one very dedicated one who keeps hiring new servant boys but none of them can get tea time quite right), and for some reason this is the funniest thing to me

Something I don’t understand (spoilers for Death of the Outsider)

I've just started the DLC, I had a Low Chaos chat with Megan in Dishonored 2 and she revealed her name real as Billie Lurk, the protagonist for DotO... in Dishonored 2 her arm and eye is missing, suddenly it's back in the DLC but I thought this is set after Dishonored 2?

Ruby Rhod, but in Dishonored style. "Corvo, sweetheart, what was that?"

Dishonored 2 loading last save of previous chapter every time I pause it.

    Posted: 27 Apr 2021 12:29 AM PDT

Just as the title says, every time I pause Dishonored 2 it loads the last save from the previous chapter.

For example, if I'm in chapter 4 and I pause the game it loads the last save I made in chapter 3.
